ERI staff demonstrated a wide variety of computer applications and assistive technologies in a hands-on, consumer oriented area open for drop-in exploration of different technology exhibits.

Assistive technology is a long-term process
whose goal is to provide an individual with technology to aid
in their performance of tasks related to work, academics, life
skills, recreation, basic sensory perception, or any other aspect
of life.

- Basic Communication Devices
- Accessible Computing
- Home Automation
- Video Communication
- Voice Recognition

Picture Planner, also shown during the
conference, is an icon (picture) based scheduling system that
assists individuals with disabilities in planning activities by
the day, week, or month.

The project that evolved into Picture Planner
arose out of several other software development projects designed
to help individuals with disabilities live more productive, satisfying,
and independent lives.
